Eugene Tenaglia, 100

BOARDMAN – Prayers for the faithfully departed will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church, both in Boardman, for Eugene Tenaglia who passed away early Saturday
afternoon, Oct. 11 Eugene was born on July 11, 1908 in Carunchio, in the Chieti province of
Italy. He is the son of Nazario and Emilia (Gaspari) Tenaglia and immigrated to the United States in 1930, at the height of the Great Depression. He retired in 1973, after working 37 years with the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company. Eugene also worked at Leonardo’s Greenhouse doing what he enjoyed most, making things grow. He continued this life long love of gardening, which produced a well-cared-for and productive garden at his home. He was a member of St. Luke Church, where he attended Mass nearly every day and shared many a breakfast with his friends after morning mass. He also was a member of its Holy Name Society, Senior Citizens, and Happy Hearts groups. His wife, the former Connie Carano, whom he married Feb. 28, 1935, passed away May 13, 2002. His memories will always be cherished by his three daughters, Donna Kaufman of Boardman, Barbara (Lance) Campbell, with whom he made his home for four years, and Dianne (Dick) Konkel of Fort Myers, Fla.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Payich of Clearwater, Fla. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; a son-in-law, Jerold Kaufman; a grandson, Brad Kaufman; and a sister, Uliana Scassa Smith. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home.
