Youngstown – There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19,
at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10
a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers
for Nicola J. “Nick” DiGenova, 74, who passed away peacefully at his home,
Sunday evening, Aug. 16, with his family and friends by his side. Nick was born
Nov. 15, 1934 in Somerset, Pa., the son of Ralph and Emma (Gentile) Genova.
He served his country in the U.S Air Force, where he was a Staff Sergeant.
Nick was employed at Republic Steel for 25 years and with B & G Trucking and
Construction Company, where he was a supervisor for 25 years. He was a
member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid deer and fox
hunter. Nick will always be remembered by his wife, the former Rachele Leopardi,
whom he married June 24, 1956 in Sulmona, Italy; his three daughters,
Antonette “Dodie” (Dan) Chizmar, Kimberly (Gene) Clayton and Joann (Bill)
Chipps, all of Poland; eight grandchildren, Billy, Niki, Jenna, Jessi, Ashley,
Channing, Danny and Geno; two sisters, Sandra Bell and Bertha Conti;
two brothers, Ralph (Jane) Genova and Vince Genova; his mother-in-law,
Querina Quatrocchi of Italy; a sister-in-law, Joann (Tony) Petralla of Italy;
sister-in-law, Sandy Genova; many loving nieces and nephews; and his
long time, dear friends, Buzzy and Lucy Papalia. Besides his parents, he was
preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Genova and two brothers-in-law, Frank
Conti and Frank Bell. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on today, Aug.
18, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lowellville, with full military
honors provided by the U. S. Air Force and the great men of our Local V.F.W. Post
No. 9571 of Ellsworth.
